Banking

Certainly yes. There are certain procedures to be followed and expenses to be covered
It is not easy these days to open a bank account. The procedure can take one month or longer, thus we strongly advice to start the procedure as soon as you decide to acquire residence permit or to form a company. Since we maintain good relationship with the biggest Andorran bank we will help you to properly prepare required documentation.
Copy of passport , local ID copy and copy of utility bill.
Duly signed bank forms – KYC, W8 and other account opening documents.
Source/origin of funds documentation: personal tax declarations for the last 5 years, last 3 years balance sheets of companies owned abroad, sales contracts of property or own company stakes, inheritance documents etc.
It is not necessary to translate documentation. You are not required to come in person to the bank. however after the account opening you should meet your banker.
It is possible but not simple and there are certain restrictions. Banks will not accept commercial operations of an offshore company in most cases, and you can use it solely for stock exchange investments. Contact us and we will check this for you.
Andorran banks are among top 30 liquid banks in the world and they will gladly give you a Lombard loan based on deposit or securities as a collateral. It is possible to get mortgage loan on real estate in Andorra but this depends on many factors such as turnover, credit history etc. After you open the account you can discuss the matter with your personal banker.
Andorra does not have a Central Bank so banks must be very cautious in their credit policy and because of that they are very liquid and solvent. Most of the banks are founded in mid 20th century and they have built quite good infrastructure worldwide (banks, insurance companies, asset management companies etc.).
As anywhere else in the world AML laws and regulations are constantly changing.
At your entering Andorra you should report to customs office if you have more than 10.000 EUR in cash.
Banks do not accept more than 100.000 EUR in cash, and you can not get more than 250.000 EUR in cash from your account. Rules are changing very fast so you should check with your bank.
